- This piece is a contemporary oil painting on deep edged canvas. Rather than the grand vista, I like to focus on the architectural detail and patina so characteristic of the Italian region. I also love the playfulness of colour and light found around the Mediterranean and hope my passion for this subject matter shows through in my painting. This is painted mostly using washes but with some impasto. Based on another beautiful doorway observed during my trip.
